Articling Students

We are dedicated to the ongoing professional development of our articling students. During your first week at the firm, you will take part in a comprehensive orientation program that includes technical and systems training, along with introductory seminars on file management, docketing, client communication, court processes, oral advocacy, and legal research and writing. You will also be introduced to your mentors, including both a senior and a junior lawyer, who will support you throughout your articling term and provide guidance on practice related matters.

Rather than following a formal rotation system, articling students gain exposure to a broad range of practice areas by receiving work from each of the firm’s lawyers. All members of the firm are approachable and eager to answer questions, provide guidance, and support the development of new lawyers.

The firm’s practice is focused primarily on personal injury law. In addition, the firm is also particularly proud of its longstanding commitment to representing survivors of sexual abuse, and student involvement in this work is consistently meaningful and rewarding.

Throughout your articling placement, you will have opportunities to attend firm educational seminars and continuing legal education programs. Students make court appearances for motions, assist at discoveries and trials, and support partners and associates with research, drafting, file and client management.

You’ll have the opportunity to grow professionally with the mentoring and support of experienced personal injury lawyers.

In recent years, the firm has hired one to two articling students annually. Student compensation is competitive with the largest firms in the city, and the firm’s hire-back rate is exceptional. Each student is provided with a private office and an indoor parking space. The firm also covers the full tuition for the Bar Admission Course and provides two weeks of paid vacation during the articling term.

Applications should include undergraduate and law school transcripts, along with a detailed résumé.
