The sentence has been handed down to a former local teacher - found guilty of sexual assault against five students. 34-year old Kris Coulombe will spend four years in a federal penitentiary.

The Crown was seeking a six-year-sentence. In addition Coulombe must provide a DNA sample, and will be included on the sex offender registry for the next 20 years.

He is also prohibited from owning a firearm for the next ten years. The assaults happened while he taught at Townsend Central and Waterford district high school between 1999 and 2003.

In addition, there is also a civil lawsuit being filed by a London law firm. They have been retained by three of the vicitms.

Lawyer Rob Talach commented outside the courtroom there is "no appeal for the sentence the girls received" in reference to the emotional scars they are left with. The suit will name both Coulombe and the Grand Erie District School Board, there is no word yet on how much the suit will be seeking.
